Welcome to Collegiate Naturalistas!

If you are reading this, you are right where you need to be! This will not be your typical natural hair site! We will discuss natural hair, the collegiate experience and everything in between! It’s tough enough being natural but then add being a college student to the mix and ish gets real—fast! This is a space for those who are looking for knowledge regardless if you are a college student and/or natural. My goal is to provide insight for those who are on their higher education journey as well as those that are on their natural hair journey. In no way, is this blog meant to exclude anyone, but these are the topics that we will be covering. Either way, I hope we are able to share life experiences and assist one another with reaching our full potential.

As a college-educated natural I know how difficult it is to discover who you are while in college. The natural revolution did not exist while I was undergrad. I went natural while attending graduate school at a much later age than most college-aged students so I was very comfortable with my identity. Most of my natural hair journey was centered around getting to know my hair and thus, it became a part of my already established identity. As a higher education professional, I am very familiar with the phases, stages, and emotions that many college students experience as they prepare to enter the “real world”. This journey combined with the process of going natural can be a whirlwind! It is my hope that I shed light on how these experiences shape the person you are and the person you will continuously grow to be!
